I have had the opportunity to live on and off boats since I met my other half Jamie over 17 years ago. We have lived in some amazing places, and in retrospect our favorite spots have usually been when living or spending most of our time on a boat. As we have been getting Lady Grace ready to venture to Florida for the winter, I have been reminded of everything I love about yacht life. First is the views of the water. Water has always been my tranquility. Even if the weather is rainy and dark, the fact that I get to see the water and the local scenery when walking down the hallway, sitting on the couch, or doing dishes, seems to fill a part of me with happiness, and a reminder of how blessed I am. Of course, when the weather is sunny and I can feel a breeze I often think “this must be the closest I can come to heaven.”
Even as I sit here writing this, I hear the seagulls squawking. I look out the window and see the gentle caps on the water as the wind blows and feel the gentle movement of Lady Grace as she adjusts to the small bits of wind. The sun is shining today, and while a little nippy, the day is beautiful. I am looking forward to sharing not only the view but also this feeling of happiness with others. I can’t wait for our adventure to begin.
